Bridging Babel is an interactive visual representation of the mechanism of communication, using metal, magnetic gears and two contrasting characters. This piece manifested in response to the current division and communication breakdown in our country. Since the capacity to learn from one another is how we evolved to create the ingeniously complex world around us, it will be our lack of communication that will be our downfall. Viewers of Bridging Babel are invited to participate by manipulating the mechanism in order to create connections that allow the two opposite characters to share a fluid link, or conversely they can experience what happens when the links are disrupted through interaction or neglect of the gears.
